If your name appears in the VeriScout database, this page is for you (or your parent or guardian). It explains, in plain language, what we do, what information about you we hold, who can see it, and how you can have it removed.
For the formal legal version of the same information, see our Privacy Policy.
What is VeriScout?
VeriScout is a Danish company that runs a private database used by US college soccer coaches to discover and evaluate players from Europe and the rest of the world for college recruiting.
We are a business-to-business tool. The database is not publicly searchable, is not visible to other players, and is not used for advertising or for any purpose other than helping verified college coaches identify prospective student-athletes.
Why is information about me in the database?
We compile profiles of football players who may be of interest to US college recruiters. The information we hold comes only from publicly accessible sources — meaning information that is already published online and can be read by anyone without logging in or paying. We also include notes that college coaches add to a profile after personally watching a match.
We do not access information that is behind a login or paywall, we do not buy data from data brokers, and we do not collect financial information, government identifiers, health records or anything else that is not publicly accessible.
Our legal basis under the GDPR for holding this information is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): operating a B2B scouting tool that helps college programs evaluate prospective student-athletes from publicly reported information. You always have the right to object — see “How do I get my data removed?” below.
What do you collect about me?
A typical profile contains:
- name, date of birth, nationality and primary playing position;
- current and previous teams and competitions where these are publicly known;
- match and performance information (appearances, minutes, goals, assists and similar statistics);
- publicly published video clips or screenshots, where available; and
- a score that helps coaches assess your profile. The score is advisory only — final recruiting decisions are always made by human coaches, never by software.
We do not collect or store:
- bank or payment information,
- passport, ID or social-security numbers,
- health, medical or psychological information,
- private contact details (we do not publish private email addresses or phone numbers), or
- any data about you that is not publicly available.
Who can see my profile?
Only verified staff at college soccer programs and similar organisations who have an active subscription to VeriScout. Each Customer User is registered to a named college and signs in with their own credentials.
The database is not open to the public, not shared with sportsbooks, not sold to third parties, and not used to target advertising at you or anyone else.
I’m under 18 — what extra protections apply?
Some Players in our database are under 18. We take this seriously and apply additional safeguards:
- we limit the data we hold about Players under 18 to information directly relevant to college recruiting (team and competition records, match statistics, position) and exclude content that is not necessary for that purpose;
- the database is restricted to verified college recruiters — it is not publicly searchable;
- if a Player under 18, or a parent or legal guardian, asks us to remove the Player from the database, we will do so promptly and without requiring a justification; and
- we do not market to children, and we do not collect data directly from children.
How do I get my data removed?
You have the right to ask us to remove your profile from the VeriScout database. We will honour any reasonable removal request, and we will honour requests from Players under 18 (or their parents or guardians) without requiring you to give a reason.
To request removal, email Hello@veri-scout.com with the subject line “Player removal request” and include:
- your full name as it appears in public match listings,
- your date of birth,
- the most recent team you played for, and
- (for parents or guardians of a Player under 18) a brief statement of your relationship to the Player.
We may need to ask one or two follow-up questions to be sure we are removing the correct profile. We will confirm the deletion by email, normally within a few working days and at the latest within one month.
You can also use the same email to:
- ask what information we hold about you (right of access),
- ask us to correct something that is wrong (right of rectification),
- ask us to stop processing your data while we look into a complaint (right to restriction),
- get a copy of any data you provided to us in a portable format, or
- object to our processing of your data on legitimate-interest grounds (right to object).
A few things people often ask
“Did I sign up for this?”
No. You did not sign up. We compile profiles automatically from publicly available match data. If you would prefer not to be in the database, just email us and we will remove you.
“Will my information be sold?”
No. We do not sell or rent personal data. Our customers are colleges that pay a subscription to use the database for recruiting.
“Can other players see my profile?”
No. Only verified college recruiters can sign in and see profiles.
“Will removing me affect my chances of being recruited?”
Coaches discover players through many channels, not just VeriScout. Removing your profile here will not affect anything else. If a coach is already aware of you through your club, agent or another platform, that is independent of VeriScout.
“What happens to my data after I’m removed?”
We delete your profile from the live database. Encrypted backups may keep a copy for up to 35 days as part of normal backup rotation, after which it is overwritten. We do not re-create profiles for people who have asked to be removed.
“What if I’m not in the EU — do I still have these rights?”
Yes. We extend the same rights to every Player in the database, regardless of where you live, as a matter of policy.
